The flagship of the Portofino family with its newly developed IWC-manufactured 59210-calibre movement and power reserve display will run precisely and reliably for a full eight days before it automatically stops. The watch is available in a gold case with a slate-coloured dial and solid gold indices or in a stainless-steel case with a silver-plated or black dial and gold-plated indices.
There are moments you look forward to all week long and for many lovers of fine watchmaking, winding up the new Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days could soon be one of them. The flagship of the Portofino family with its newly developed IWC-manufactured 59210-calibre movement will run precisely and reliably for a full 192 hours, or eight days, before it automatically stops. The power remaining can be read off on the power reserve display on the dial between “8” and “9 o’clock”. In combination with the small seconds display at “6 o’clock” and the date display at “3”, this gives the dial a pleasingly balanced appearance. The indexless balance has a frequency of 28,800 A/h and, together with the Breguet spring bent into shape in accordance with ancient watchmaking tradition, helps to make the watch so accurate. The watch is available in a gold case with a slate-coloured dial and solid gold indices or in a stainless-steel case with a silver-plated or black dial and rhodium- or gold-plated indices. All models have a see-through sapphire-glass back and alligator leather straps by Santoni.

The newly developed 59210 calibre for the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days follows on in the 50000-calibre tradition: it is large, accurate and reliable, and is the first hand-wound movement from Schaffhausen with an eight-day power reserve. Actually, it would be nine days, but it is mechanically stopped before all the tension in the spring is exhausted, eliminating the effect of reduced torque in the mainspring as it winds down. This ensures greater precision the whole time the watch is running. And the owner will always be on the safe side if he winds his watch once a week. The fact that the movement is part of the 50000-calibre family is also clear from the impressive technical specifications: the indexless balance with its frequency of 28,800 beats per hour helps to ensure a high level of accuracy, as does the Breguet spring, bent into shape in accordance with ancient watchmaking tradition. There are also a power reserve display, a date display and small hacking seconds. IWC's watchmakers worked on the movement for two whole years. After thorough laboratory testing of its suitability for everyday use, it can now proudly bear IWC's own seal of quality: "Probus Scafusia" – "good, solid craftsmanship from Schaffhausen".

Klasse !!!
Stunning. Can't wait to see it in real life tomorrow!
simply stunning and at 45mm it's a perfect size.
Very classy watch, a shot in the middle of the bull's eye.
I want one badly! #:^D
someone know price for stainless steel model?
A marvelous piece! Particularly in the stainless steel and black dial variant.
Beautiful - understated elegance.
LOVE IT!
Would buy one right now if you offered SS and white gold numerals...!!!
Why do you ONLY offer that combination with Pt???!
Dear Sirs.
I have a clock Portofino steel. I would buy a Milanese bracelet in stainless steel mesh, is it possible?
Thank you very much
I saw this watch at the SIHH and I must say that, even though I am not a fan of the Portofino family, the watch is simply AMAZING.
Wow, I remember when people were saying that 38mm was the perfect size. But the watch is stunning and I must agree, at 45 x 12, this watch will fit well under sleeves and will add it to my IWC "to buy" list. Being 12mm thick, for me, it will be great.
Surely a great new timepiece from IWC.
Simple and elegant yet still so attached to it's roots - just with a modern motor inside. This brings the Portofino collection to a new level IMHO.
Bent
beautiful period
At last. A large watch with the date window in the correct position on the dial.
What a great watch !!! This is my favorite.
Il nuovo calibro adottato e' semplicemente ''Bello''
Perfect, Rose Gold and Brown Leather for me, started saving already.
WOW !!! I love it, I want it! This marvelous watch (case red gold with ardoise and perfect balance dial) is a star in the Galaxy IWC.
Can we have a Platinum Case version with a white dial please!, in the same class as the Ingenieur classic 1950!
Suberb looking timepiece......WOW.
Did I understand it correctly that there are parts of other watch manufacturars inside (Breguet Spring)? What else in this calibre comes from other producers?
Gorgeous watch by the way...
Beautiful watch! I would like to see more timepieces for those with very small wrists. Not everyone can wear a 45mm diameter watch. Size has a lot to do with wearing comfort.
Where can I but one?
Where can I but the new 8 day Portofino in the US?
This is the one I dreamed
Any recommendation for genuine website that I can order online?
Is it possible to set the milanese mesh on to portofino 8 days?
Dear eeriki,
the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days is always delivered on a Santoni Leather Strap at first. But of course it is also possible to attach it to the Milanese mesh bracelet later, if you do wish so.
Thank you for your interest and kind regards from Schaffhausen.
Got myself the steel case silver dial Portofino 8 days handwound. It is perfect, so beautiful, stylish. Thank you IWC for producing it!
Beautiful
love the watch !!!
love the watch but do not love the price :)
Way too big. 42mm would have been large enough. Also a larger balance wheel would provide a more stable rate. It seems a bit small for the size of the movement.
I'd like to have one, however it seems impossible as the retailer cannot get one for me. Strange but true.
Dear Mr. Ylihanka,
thank you very much for letting us know about your problem. In general retailers can order every model for their customers. In case of a very rare piece like the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days it could take some time.
To understand more about your case, please contact us via http://www.iwc.com/en-us/contact/ and let us know where you are based and which retailer you approached.
Best wishes from Schaffhausen
Could please anyone share a view on how long watch repair (under guarantee) may take. The retailer told me it may take up to 7 months… which sounds weird. I got a couple of minor issues with PORTOFINO HAND-WOUND EIGHT DAYS and would really miss it for such a long period.
Magnificent, but why Ø45mm!!! please back to class with Ø39-40mm and this watch will be mine :) thank you
whats the price of this master piece?
It was love at first sight and i knew i had to have it. I'm glad i did
My Favorite !!!!
LOVE IT !!!!!
I bought a Portofino hand-wound eight days in January. I have noticed that it goes faster by 30 to 50 seconds every 15 days. Is this normal? If not, what shall I do?
Dear Dan787,
from what you describe the accuracy of your Portofino Hand-Wound is really good. If we look at the highest deviance you mention with 50 seconds in 15 days that represents an average difference of only 3,33 seconds per day.
For example the official terms for a chronometer certificate from the COSC institute demand an average between -4 and +6 seconds per day.
Therefore you own a very precise instrument showing better results than the official Swiss authority has set, congratulations.
Best wishes from Schaffhausen
